  • Spikes are not meant to be bladed they are supposed to be conical. Every time I’ve seen a triangular, bladed spike it always fails. You have two sharp axe heads to cut with, you do not need to cut with the tip, you need to be able to pierce armour with it which a cone shape is better for.

  • Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can answer: the intro describes the tabar as a favorite weapon of mounted warriors, but as seen in this show it is clearly a two handed axe. How is anyone supposed to use this on horseback? Interested in any responses.

  • Doug is one of the judges not a waiter, he doesn't need to address the contestants as Sir which lowers his status. Just call them by their first name.

    • @Colin Seet ugh... Many Americans call everyone sir. As to why the contestants sometimes might address him by name, I'd put it down to familiarity. They feel they know him, having seen him on the show over the years, and feel comfortable calling him Doug. He doesn't really know them, and therefore generally goes with the default "sir".

    • Honestly the weight should have been mentioned. 8 pounds is suuuper heavy for any historical weapon. Even without the spike the losing weapon would probably be more effective in combat.
