  • When you’re hurt by people who share the same blood as you, then just remember Yusuf (AS), who was betrayed by his own brothers. If you find your parents opposing you, remember Ibrahim (AS), whose father led him to the fire. If you’re stuck with a problem where there’s no way out, remember Yunus (AS), stuck in the belly of a whale. If you’re ill & your body cries with pain, remember Ayoob (AS) who was more ill than you. When someone slanders you, remember Ai’sha (RA) who was slandered throughout the city. When you’re lonely, recall Aadam (AS) who was created alone. When you can’t see any logic around you, think of Nuh (AS) who built an ark without questioning. If you are mocked by your own relatives then think of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Allah (SWT) put these Prophets to trials and tribulations, so that later generations may learn a lesson of patience & perseverance. May Allah SWT give us perspective & understanding. Ameen.

  • I read the transcripts of the conversations between planes. In the flight, the flight leader was the second most experienced pilot. The flight leader had two broken compasses in his plane and didn't admit to it until it was waaaaayy too late to do anything about it. If he had just fessed up right at the beginning, then 19 men would not have died needlessly. His pride obviously couldn't deal with it. To use a quote from Top Gun:"Your ego is writing checks that you can't cash."

    Pope AnthonyPope AnthonyMuaj më parë
    • @Pope Anthony , Air Force P.J. . Respect! I agree wholeheartedly with your conclusion. The "broken" compass is imo, a pilot not trusting his instruments. In that area, a spinning compass is not uncommon but the definition of a broken compass is somewhat dubious. Btw, I could be mistaken but I think the planes had a single compass not two. It seems clear the flight leader believed that He was somewhere in the Gulf. But radio stations along the east coast picked up the flights radio communications and accordingly placed the flight on a heading of due north , East of the coast. In fact, radio communication intercepted a transmission in which one of pilots said they needed to head west. Which was correct. In fact, sop. for the mission was put the sun on the 9 and turn left to West if the flight was "lost". This is not what happened. Overall, as I stated, I believe that you summed the situation up accurately .

Coach DukeCoach Duke27 ditë më parë
    • @Coach Duke There were three legs to the journey. The first leg, everything went well, very much according to plan. It was during the second leg that the lead pilot became aware that both of the compasses in his plane were malfunctioning. There was another pilot on this flight that had more experience and at the point that the lead pilot became aware that he was flying blind, he should have just ceded control to that pilot, but he didn't do that. At this point, no one knew where they were. The turn to the third leg was done on dead reckoning, but if they were over the gulf (a possibility), then turning to the west would do them no good. I reference the gulf because sighting a small island was in the conversation and this could have been one of the Florida keys. I've never been a pilot but I was on a search & rescue team for the civil air patrol and I was a recon Marine. Map reading is essential and being off by one degree on a map can equal disaster. I was also a volunteer firefighter and complacency in firefighting can get you killed. It is my strong opinion that this lead pilot got complacent and perhaps had ego issues.

      Pope AnthonyPope AnthonyMuaj më parë
    • @Pope Anthony , Interesting disagreement you 2 are having regarding when a compass was broken and discovered. ... I say interesting because there is no hard evidence that there was a "broken" compass. So what, or why, you guys are in disagreement is purely based on your opinions not anything else. Pope you stated that they were lost with little if any chance to find the way back or home. .not sure how you are defining the possible outcomes that were a possibility at various times during the flight. Example, they could remain lost but land safely. Point is, the flight could have turned west and found land. I'm speaking of the last course theyre known to have been on. They were east of the coast of Florida and could have found land if they changed course. This brings me to the compass part you guys are discussing. I understand why you guys believe in a broken compass and it makes sense. But the most likely and the only explanation that has supporting evidence is not a broken compass but a pilot who didn't trust what his instruments were telling him. The answer to ..."who do you believe , the pilot or his instruments? " is never in doubt ..it's always the instruments. Last, the notion that the compass was broken and not detected is not possible. (It's possible but .00001 is statically an impossibility, but it is mathematically and theorically possible. ). The other is the word "broken" . Guys, that's a lousy word to describe the situation. However, it wasn't called to question or clarify what was meant by the word. Broken means one thing and it would have been known when it happened.

      Coach DukeCoach DukeMuaj më parë
    • Seems stupid considering he couldn’t be blamed for malfunctioning equipment. He should have handed lead to someone with a functioning compass.

      keir farnumkeir farnumMuaj më parë
    • @self discarded king of ruin 72 He didn't ADMIT it until it was too late. The trouble started during the second leg of the journey. The turn to the third leg was done on pure dead reckoning. By this time they were so far off course that it would have taken a miracle to get them home.

  • What if the Bermuda Triangle was like a portal to another dimension or something.

    ricc yemricc yemMuaj më parë
    • @Minotaur Ok, think of it this way. To us, there are three spacial dimensions, length, width and height. in other words, one must have three parameters in order to define a specific point in three dimensional space. In four dimensions, there would have to be a fourth parameter in order to define a point in space, and so on. Because we are three dimensional beings, we can only perceive space in three dimensions. The idea is that there may well be objects that exist in more than three dimensions that might be right next to us or even occupying the same three dimensional space as us that we cannot perceive. What most people really mean by the term "alternate dimension" is the concept of alternate universes that may exist in the same space as ours, in more than three dimensions.

      Justina IsaacJustina IsaacMuaj më parë
    • I`m glad you have the drive to become an archaeologist in the near future! Although i`m not a world-renowned scholar within the field of archaeology I can tell you for sure that it is a rewarding career. I`m a professional osteologist which means that I have to collate, excavate, examine and most importantly inspect all bones that are/to become evidence with an archaeological setting. Whether that be abroad, locally or within different regions around the world such as Arabia, the middle-east, Europe and so on and so forth. I have to advise you that it is a challenging career as whole the life of an osteologist or in your case an archaeologist! I do happen to have graduated (majored) within archaeology and I enjoyed every second of my lectures, field work and even the assignments/tasks set for us when students. I am not sure where you are from within a geographical region but I can rest you assured that the best path to become an aspiring archaeologist is to first of all have grades, a good attitude, work ethic and most importantly a sane mind! It may seem at times slightly strange the "principles" that I have laid out but it is the truth as someone with experience within an archaeological setting around the world. The bit about grades is crucial considering if you want a GOOD career you need to first of all get into a good university within a respectable and safe location. What do I mean by that? As someone who has graduated from an European archaeological institution, I must say that the entry requirements are decent/adequate and not absurdly high. They are manageable. This is primarily due to the fact that archaeology is a diminishing degree in terms of interest from students around the world. As a result, many prestigious archaeological departments have started to lower their "entry" standards from AAB to BBB as an example. I would suggest that Europe and the United States have the best archaeological departments around the world. It is absolutely essential to have a good attitude as an archaeologist considering you will have to socialise, interact and most importantly work with others in a "dig" as we call it or excavation. At times you WILL have to work with complicated people that have a difficult personality to handle. However, it is all part of the job. Be prepared to work closely with many different people around the world that may be VERY different from you in cultural, religious and social terms. So bear that in mind. You MUST have a good work ethic in any job as a fact. However, this is even more emphasised within the setting of a professional archaeologist. The reason for this primarily relies on the fact that you will most times have strict working hours, with lunch and short intervals included. You must wake up at the correct time and do your job within a field. Trust me, when you are excavating/working within an archaeological surrounding others will COUNT on your expertise/work. It is sort of like a community. One person works in one area, the other works in this area and so on and so forth. It is a chain in a sense. Everybody from the "highest" to the "Lowest" needs to work and rely on each other in order to have a good community environment and most importantly a strong friendship with people you are working with. All this may sound corny but it is crucial to be friendly and have GOOD communication/people skills (social) with others as an archaeologist. When I work I have to improvise many times considering I could one day work with a Polish archaeological unit and the next week with a British archaeological unit. It all may vary. This means new people, different social customs and norms. You need to be versatile and be ABLE to INTEGRATE with different archaeologists around the work as archaeology in its core is a community project! If you have any other questions in relation to how university work/life balance is, simply message me back. However, as a question to you what motivates you? It is crucial for you to have an interest within a PARTICULAR area of archaeology. Such as maritime archaeology, bioarchaeology, zooarchaeology and so on and so forth. Archaeology has progressed my friend and is no longer simply “digging” or “looting” like Indiana Jones. Trust me. It is far from that. We have evolved with specialists within archaeology. I focus on HUMAN remains/skeletons. Others focus on underwater archaeology, whilst others focus on the chemistry part of archaeology. It is all up to you.
